Community Giving Program

The Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County works to close the meal gap for County residents in need. We provide nearly 6 million pounds of healthy food each year, including nearly 3 million pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables, with distributions in every community in the county. We have 80 monthly Neighborhood Food Distributions, produce distributions for seniors, a gleaning program to harvest extra fruits and vegetables, and children’s programs.
Distributing so much food in so many places is only possible with the support of 1,900
community volunteers annually. In addition to directly distributing food, the Food Bank works with 200 community partners, including school districts, Senior Nutrition, CAPSLO homeless and child-care programs, ECHO Shelter, churches, Salvation Army sites throughout the County, People's Self-Help Housing, Cuesta College, and many more. We differ from other local emergency food providers in that we serve these agencies as well as the public directly, providing an economical source of charitable food in bulk to redistribute.

SLO Wine Country has supported San Luis Obispo County non-profit and charity organizations including Womenade, Cal Poly SLO, CASA, Family Care Network, Assistance League of SLO, Big Brothers Big Sisters and SLO Hospice over the past 7 years. As part of the Harvest on the Coast Celebration (hosted at the Avila Beach Resort on Saturday, November 4th, 2017), SLO Wine Country has helped raise awareness and gift funds to local organizations with programs focused on health and human services, education, the arts and community programs that service those in need in San Luis Obispo County.
